Lasema 101: Everything You Need to Know About This 24/7 Korean Spa in Makati

If you're looking for a place to unwind in Metro Manila, New Lasema Spa Jjimjilbang in Makati offers a full Korean spa experience that is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It remains open even during typhoons, making it one of the most reliable wellness spots in the city. Whether you are in between travel plans, want to relax after work, or are simply curious about Korean jjimjilbang culture, Lasema is a calming escape for all kinds of visitors.

Located at 8846 Sampaloc Street, corner Estrella Street in Makati, Lasema has its own dedicated four-story building. The first floor is home to King Jampong Chinese Restaurant, Seoul Galbi, a laundry shop, a BDO ATM, and a skincare store that sells popular Korean beauty products.

If you are driving, there is parking available. Street parking is allowed from midnight until 5 a.m., and valet service is also offered. Be aware that weekends tend to be crowded, which can make the environment less peaceful. Friday is also a busy day. If you want a more relaxed experience, it is best to visit on a weekday, preferably from Monday to Thursday.

The second floor is where you begin your spa experience. At the reception, you can choose from several package options: jjimjilbang access only, jjimjilbang with massage, or jjimjilbang with a Korean body scrub. The body scrub is a favorite among returning guests. It might feel a little harsh at first, but it leaves the skin noticeably smooth and refreshed.

Once you check in, you will receive a receipt, a locker slip, a bracelet, two small towels, and a set of clothes that includes a shirt and shorts. Male and female areas are separated. Remove your shoes before entering and bring them with you to your locker. Place your footwear in the lower section of the locker. Nudity is required in the locker and wet areas, following Korean jjimjilbang traditions. Phones and smartwatches are not allowed in these zones to maintain privacy and promote a peaceful atmosphere.

Begin by taking a shower using the provided soap and shampoo. You are welcome to bring your own toiletries. After showering, you can try their mist steam room and explore the six different pools:

  • Lemon pool

  • Green Tea or Jasmine Tea pool

  • Ginseng pool

  • Hinoki (Japanese cypress) pool

  • Rooibos pool

  • Ice bath

Each pool is designed to support wellness and relaxation. Please be respectful and avoid dipping towels into any of the pools.

When you are finished, dry off using the provided towels. More towels are available at the entrance to the wet area or by request from the locker attendants. Change into the shirt and shorts you received at check-in and walk barefoot through the common areas. Footwear may only be worn again when exiting the spa.

From here, you can enter the jjimjilbang’s shared space. Before heading to the upper floors, consider spending time in the infrared room. On the third floor, you will find the snack bar, which serves Korean favorites like grilled eggs and Sikhye. Sikhye is a sweet, traditional rice drink made with fermented malt, often served cold. The menu also includes instant noodles, dumplings, hotdogs, and bottled beverages.

Other features on the third floor include cave-style resting areas, a movie room where food is allowed, smoking areas, a small gym, a children's play area, and a karaoke room. Massage reception is also on this floor. When it is time for your scheduled massage, staff will call your locker number.

There are also several themed sauna rooms available:

  • Red Clay Room at 61°C

  • Salt and Oak Charcoal Room at 57°C

  • Amethyst Room at 79°C

  • Ochre Hot Kiln at 92°C

  • Ice Room at -7°C

Many guests alternate between the hot rooms and the Ice Room, spending ten to fifteen minutes in each to promote circulation and detoxification.

For travelers, Lasema is also a convenient stopover. If you already checked out of your hotel and have hours to wait before your flight, you can leave your luggage at the second floor reception and enjoy the spa without worry.

Whether you want to relax in a jacuzzi, try a sauna circuit, or simply rest in a quiet space, New Lasema Spa Jjimjilbang provides a complete and welcoming experience for first-time visitors and regulars alike.
